I bet you want to know what kind of content you will create for your site? Your content is critical to the success of your site. It is more important than what your site looks like because it is the reason people will come to your site, will stay on your site and buy from you. If the content is weak or non-existent, your audience will not engage and go some place else.
Content that is original, meaning is not copied from another website, and is of high-quality is critical to your success. When we talk about high-quality, we mean highly relevant content that answers the questions and engages your readers. If they stay on your site, they are more likely to buy into what you are offering, and search engines are likely to rank your site higher in search results.
Your audience is likely to link to your site if you provide original and highly relevant content. The search engines recognize more top quality sites linking to your site and will push your blog up the search ranks. Keep in mind that high-quality sites links are good, but poor quality or irrelevant sites linking in may hurt your site. You can always disavow those poor site links with tools on the search engine sites.
Structure is as important as kind of content
The structure of your content gives you direction in the kind of content you will create. It allows you to build on your site subject in a way that builds on the credibility of the site. The structure also creates a flow of internal links which allows search engines and people to find relevant content on your site.
Create a site map of topics and start building your first content of the areas that support the structure of your business model. You want to be detailed, giving your best material in this process. The more relevant the detail, the more likely you will climb the engines and develop a larger audience.
Your content needs to be better than the other sites. Leveraging the structure of your content through links will give the answers and information that your audience seeks, and trust you as an authoritarian on the subject of your site. Make your audience feel comfortable with what you are sharing by giving them the confidence in your material.
Support your material by referencing sources and gain credibility. Make sure you open any external links in a new window, allowing them to see your supporting references and stay on your site at the same time. The time visitors spend on your site is relevant to the placement in search engines.
Testimonials are an excellent kind of content
Anytime you can leverage a testimonial you are securing one of the best types of content you can have. Known personalities provide the best testimonials because of the credibility they have already established. Link to them if you can, as that link will reinforce the testimony.
Use the kind of content that makes sense to users
Content that is created to trick search engines is not the kind of content that makes sense to your audience. The search engines are constantly evolving their algorithms to read your content as though humans are reading.They know when you are loading up the content to trick the search engine and will penalize your site. Stay focused on your human audience.
Avoid content that is too busy
Think about the visual aspects of your blog/website. Do your colors flow? Adobe Color CC is an excellent tool that creates colors that work together and will help make your site visually pleasing. Use images that are sized proper Lynch for the dimensions of your blog. My images are always 900 pixels wide, and 600 pixels tall. Then, I allow the Theme and WordPress Core to adjust the size of the pictures accordingly. The dimensions I use are relevant to the themes and settings I use. Different themes will use different specifications and sizes. Search the Theme documentation for best-sized dimensions of your images.
Many blogs and websites load up on advertisements. They have so much advertisement that reading the material is nearly impossible and guarantees that their audience will only go to their site once. There are a lot of Facebook sponsored posts that link to sites bombarded with advertising. Avoid this practice if you are intending on building a credible site.
Grammar and spelling issues in blogs/websites
Many of the best-known bloggers have content that contains poor grammar and spelling. They still drive a ton of traffic and convert, while some of the best-written blogs get minimal traffic. Having good grammar and spelling on your site is important, but does not always equate to success. Have highly relevant content, and you will get the traffic.
A reader commented on one of my blog posts that my “spelling and grammar is atrocious.” Keep in mind, this happened several years ago, and my comment back is, “You are reading my blog, right? I guess I don’t have too much to worry about.” Now, I could have asked where he found errors, but I did not because he was correct, and errors were everywhere.
My writing is better today. However, I am sure errors may exist with my material. I use Grammarly to clean up the grammar and spelling issues, but it does not catch everything. Fortunately, the posts continue to get better.
Broken links are another area that is detrimental to a website. I have old content that needs to be checked with a link checker, ensuring that broken and unwanted links do not cause my site to lose credibility.
