God never promises to spare us from trials, but He always provides a way of escape from temptation.
Many people say, “God won’t give you more than you can handle.” But that’s not actually what Scripture teaches. The Bible doesn’t promise that life will always be bearable—it promises that when we face temptation, God will always provide a way out.
God’s Promise in Scripture
1 Corinthians 10:13 (NLT) says:
“The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, He will show you a way out so that you can endure.”
God often pushes us beyond our comfort zones, but He never leaves us without an escape route when temptation comes.
The Trap of “Just Once”
Temptation often whispers, “Just this one time.” But giving in rarely ends there—it pulls us back again and again. Anxiety builds, relationships are strained, and lies pile up in the name of protecting others, while causing deeper wounds.
Choosing the Alternate Path
The only way out is to take the alternate path God provides. It might seem harder at first, but it always leads to freedom. When I fully commit to the escape route He shows me, the weight lifts, peace returns, and joy follows—even before the temptation passes completely.
Over time, as we choose God’s way again and again, temptation loses some of its power. We grow stronger in humility, learning to depend not on ourselves but on Him.
The Reward of Resisting
As a child, I often marveled at unexpected surprises that brightened my life. Walking with Christ has brought back that same sense of wonder—reminders of His goodness that come when I resist temptation and follow His path.
God’s promises are true. If we resist temptation and take His way out, we not only avoid destruction—we rediscover the joy of His presence and the blessings He longs to give.
