Megan Jackson Carreker and Aimee Miller are sorority sisters who created Hip Chixs, a new jean company that highlights the woman's accent of her body. The jeans take out the dreaded whale tail, and the muffin top.
Hip Chixs has $12,000 in sales coming into Shark Tank. Megan and Aimee did two years of research and then designed for their needs. The company has been selling for one year, and have only two styles. They are hoping to be around $800,000 in sales over the next twelve months.
Hip Chixs were in the top 25% of the sellers in the boutique store. They retail for $180, and sell the jeans to the store for $80, and cost is $60. Megan and Aimee are wanting to place a bigger order to get the cost of the jeans down.
Daymond says most jean manufacturers are trying to bring their jean price down to $120. Daymond believes it will take $5 million to launch a denim line.
