Taking a single step is the beginning of transformation. Sometimes that step comes by the day—or even by the hour—but it always leads us closer to a different outcome. Change is possible every day, but only when we stop trying to do it on our own and start walking in God’s strength.
I know this because my life is proof. Yet even now, my own effort is never enough to bring about the life I truly want. Each step has to be one God directs.
The Power of a Single Step
The first step must be the right step—toward what God wants, not just what we want for ourselves. That means waking up each morning and moving forward in His direction, one choice at a time, building upon the day before.
Some steps may feel small or insignificant, but over time they compound into real change. That’s why I’ve leaned on task lists to stay consistent. They help me see progress even when it feels slow.
Scripture to Guide Us
“Therefore, since such a huge crowd of witnesses surrounds us in the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.”
— Hebrews 12:1 (NLT)
Walking with Endurance
One step at a time adds up. The small acts of obedience eventually become visible not only to others, but also to ourselves.
Surround yourself with people who are walking the same path—those whose actions encourage you more than their words. Their faith-filled lives will inspire you to keep moving forward.
And most importantly, lean on God. He is the one who strengthens us to take the right steps and to overcome what once felt impossible.
Prayer
Dear Father,
Thank You for the blessing of each new day and the chance to take one more step toward You. Help me to trust that even the smallest steps, when taken in faith, move me closer to the life You desire for me. Condition my heart to endure, and let each step bring me into deeper fellowship with You.
In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
