Reflection
Staying focused on Christ is not easy—but it is possible, and it does get easier with practice. The more we turn our attention toward Him, the less the noise of this world can pull us away. This is not just a personal goal; it’s also the mission of the Church: to know Christ and make Him known.
It takes intentionality to look past what the world offers and fix our eyes on Jesus. That’s why surrounding ourselves with a Christ-centered community matters so much. While many churches and groups drift toward social or political agendas, our mission must remain the same: keep the Gospel at the center.
The world will always tug at us, tempting us to shift our focus. But conviction, prayer, and reliance on God’s strength keep us steady.
Scripture
“Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.”
—Colossians 3:2 (NIV)
Application
Focusing on Christ requires vigilance. Opportunities to turn our attention toward Him come in both expected and unexpected moments. Sometimes we recognize them; other times, we miss them. Each miss is a reminder to be watchful the next time.
Another key to staying on mission is understanding and using our spiritual gifts. God equips each of us uniquely, not so we can do everything, but so we can faithfully do the work He has prepared for us (Ephesians 2:10). It’s freeing to remember that we don’t need to fix anyone—we simply point them to the One who can.
Prayer
Dear Father, thank You for giving me a mission and for surrounding me with people who keep me focused on Christ. Guard my heart from distractions and help me recognize the opportunities You place before me. Teach me to use my spiritual gifts faithfully, without striving to do what only You can do. Show me my next step, and keep me close to You.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
