You Have to Believe in Yourself

Kirk working on other projects

If you start with nothing, you have to believe in yourself. Nobody else is going to do it for you. They won’t tell you how because they don’t know how. You have to figure out your game plan, and you must be your coach, nobody else will do it for you.

You have to believe in yourself because starting your own business is entirely different than working in or managing another company. Starting a business might seem fun at the beginning but living it is another game. You have to push through when failure seems inevitable.

Work Anywhere – Believe in Yourself

When I think of my most significant success in business, I think of working in a janitorial closet located in an old building on the skywalk system.

The plaster crumbled and left big piles of dust in the doorway that remained open because of two steam pipes running through my office. The temperature always seemed to be around 80 degrees.

When you work in an office like that, you have to believe in yourself. It paid off in more than just financial reward. It drove me to succeed in ways nobody else could. The passion oozed in work going on in such unwelcoming conditions.

The result is being able to buy a Ferrari, the car I had dreamed of owning all my life, and to afford whatever I wanted.

It doesn’t always end well, especially when you don’t believe in yourself. That’s what happened with my next big start-up. The company grew fast, faster than I was able to develop as a CEO.

The challenges from all directions ended up chewing me up all at once and left me not believing in myself. The result was catastrophic.

But, when you fail, you still have to believe in yourself, because life goes on, the world keeps turning, and no matter how large the failure, it does not limit our potential for future success.

You have to believe in yourself no matter what because nobody is going to do it for you. Keep your faith, keep learning. Be willing to do whatever it takes, and you will find success and joy in knowing you are building something great.

If I can do it, you surely can because I’m not that great, but I do have the tenacity and you should too. Quit Dreaming and get started today!
