Best-Laid Plans Don’t always Happen

Our best-laid plans are no good if the plans don’t fit the goal but are only part of the solution. That’s the case in my life. I am walking four-plus miles a day and experienced a plateau in my weight loss after 145 days straight.

The Best-Laid Plans require more than walking to lose weight in the places I need to lose weight. Yes, I am in better condition, but not like if I shed about twenty pounds.

My Best-Laid Plans Fail to Shed the Weight

Weight doesn’t come off as easy as it did in my twenties, and it’s the toughest so far in my fifties. It’s time to change the type of food I eat and when I eat.

My friend, Christine, suggested that I mix up my workout, so I added hills to my walk, and I am doing some jogging. The addition makes a difference in the cardio, as I can feel it in my chest.

Here’s the thing, we need to work out to have a healthy lifestyle, and what we eat matters. It matters to me in my fifties. Most importantly, I need to focus on Christ because when my best-laid plans don’t work, Christ does!

What will tomorrow bring for us?

We never know what tomorrow will be like, but we can approach it by doing our best today. When those plans aren’t working, sometimes we need to stop what we are doing and focus on doing the next right thing that we know how to do.

Look here, you who say, “Today or tomorrow, we are gong to a certain town and will stay there a year. We will do business there and make a profit.” How do you know what your life will be like tomorrow?

James 4:13-14a

Remember, do the next right thing and trust God, letting it go to Him. He is always there for you, no matter what your situation.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, order my day, direct my steps, and make my plans conform to yours. I long to do your will. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
