Thinking of blogging to make money or do as a start-up business? Some people do extremely well and most of those people started with little to no money at all. They worked extremely hard, working long hours and many of them worked every day to become successful.
What I find most satisfying about blogging is the ability to express my ideas, even though I’m not a great writer. It doesn’t matter because I’m sharing ideas and my readers for the most part forgive my grammatical mistakes. If you offer great content, they’ll forgive your grammatical mistakes too.
Successful blogs depend on keeping your content simple and on point. When I say successful blogs, I’m not talking about making people think I’m smart, I’m talking about getting people to convert on advertising that I have on my site through banner ads and links. That is how I make my living and if I’m not delivering quality content, I won’t keep a large enough audience to make my business profitable.
Bloggers have several different strategies to monetize their business. Some will use affiliate marketing programs (See Affiliate Marketing for more Information).
Other options for monetizing blogging include building membership sites, developing a continuity program (either through a newsletter or membership site), Producing an electronic book or coaching for hire. Selling advertising on the site via banners, text links or even product reviews (must be disclosed if you are paid or given a product to review).
At first, a Successful Blog requires content to be updated daily. The search engines want to know you’re serious about your business. You have to prove yourself and one of the best ways to do that is deliver a lot of quality content.
You’ll probably read on several sites that consistency is the key to a successful blog and if you’re blogging weekly your fine. They’re wrong. You can’t do that kind of strategy until you have thousands of pages indexed. Until then, the only sure way to blogging success is content done consistently every day.
